Description

The Muslim Association of Riverina Wagga Wagga  will celebrate National Unity Week by hosting an interfaith or intercultural event in the community. Meet people of other cultures and faiths, learn from one another and recognise that unity builds a better future than division ever could.

The day will start off with a walk from 19 Jones Street to the location where the first Islamic community in Wagga Wagga will be built. Community leaders will talk through the design of the centre and community members can share their feedback. 11:00 – 12:30pm.

Duhr Prayer will be demonstrated from 12:30 – 1:00pm, where community members will be able to have prayer and its elements explained.

Food will be provided from 1:00 – 2:00pm including both Australian and Meddle Eastern Fare.

From 2:00 – 3:00, a Q&A will be held, covering the topics of Hijab, Women in Islam and other questions attendees may have.

A jumping castle will also be arranged for the kids

The beauty of Australia is in its diversity. We’re millions of people with different cultures, faiths, experiences and ideas, but we have one thing in common – we share our future. We can ensure that the future is one where all people can equally belong, contribute and thrive if it is founded on mutual respect, understanding and shared values. Unity does not equal uniformity – it is forged in conversation, community, and a commitment to one another’s right to flourish and prosper.
